Starting in early 1959 with the FOX 3000 (Mono/Hi-Fi) Series and SFX 3000 (Stereo) series. The I.D. system worked as FOX ???? - Mono / SFX ???? Stereo FX for FOX. Other series started were the TCF-100-2/2S series, TCF for 20th Century Fox, 2 for 2-LP sets / the 2S was for 2 Stereo, a SFX 2000 series was for special stereo releases, but there was only one album in the series, the 1959 release 20^th Century Fox Presents a Stereoscope Spectacular.

The FOX 1000 series was the "Million Seller Hits" series, starting it in 1960. These were reissues of albums in the 3000 series, but later this series included some original albums, that being the last three albums in the series [1009-1011]. Each album had a border of stars around the edges of the front of the jacket, and the "Million Seller Hits" logo on the cover. The label on these albums was the regular "blue sky" 20th Fox label, with a black bar above the title which said in white lettering, "MILLION SELLER HITS." None of these albums were issued in stereo, having been recorded in mono or /Hi-Fi format at the time.

By late 1962 FOX started a new FOX 4000/SFX 4000 series used for original cast recordings.

Also started in 1962 was FOX 5000/SFX 5000 series for various artists, but that too lasted for just one album. Then Fox started yet another 5000 series, this time using the prefixes FXG/SXG 5000 (for Fox Gem/Stereo Fox Gem ). Many of these albums at the start, carried a special logo noting that the issue was one of the "GEMS from the Archives of 20th Century Fox." Stereo issues had an exaggerated "STEREOSCOPE" banner on the front cover. "Stereoscope," was the 20th Century Fox name for stereo derived from the movie end of the business (a stereoscope is a device used to see three dimensional (3-D) images by looking at a pair of photos taken from slightly different angles. But by the end of 1963 this too was discontinued.

Then in 1963, Fox also started a TFM 5100/TFS 6100 series, but it too lasted for only one album, the blues album by the Panama Francis Blues Band. By 1967 they used the same catalog number, 5101, described below.

We try to give you as much of a listing as possible. For those items we have a separate pages and more detailed information may be found there.

Fox´s plan was to have just the 3000 series for main issues, including soundtracks, a 100 series for two-album sets, a 2000 series for special stereo records, the 4000 series for original cast recordings, and then a 5000 series for special issues that just there. But we now know that just did not work out for them.

Almost all of the issues in these series had the "blue sky" 20th Fox label before 1963, and the black 20th Century Fox label starting in 1963.

The back of most jackets reads: "This recording is designed for the phonograph of today or tomorrow. It guarantees you the finest reproduction on your present machine or on any stereophonic instrument or equipment you may own in the future." - for the most part TCF produce a good platter

20^th CENTURY RECORDS launched a subsidiary Chi Sound Records for their disco records.
